Fort Washington Generals Musters More Hits But Falls 4-2 To Morelanders

Fort Washington Generals lost 4-2 in seven innings on Tuesday, despite outhitting Morelanders five to four.  The Morelanders did all of their scoring in the top of the 5th inning, plating 4 runs to secure the win.

Justin Horn was solid at the plate for Fort Washington Generals. Horn went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the first and fifth innings.  Mike Reilly was charged with the loss. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked five, struck out six, and allowed four runs. Jason Greene pitched to one batter in the fifth and recorded a strike out.  Chris Kelly put together a nice outing. Kelly held Morelanders hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Joe Bates recorded the win for Morelanders. He allowed two runs over seven innings. Bates struck out 13, walked one and gave up five hits.

Fort Washington Generals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Fort Washington Generals’ threat began with a single by Horn. A stolen base then moved Horn from first to second. Tom Reilly singled, bringing home Horn.  The Generals took a 2-0 lead in the 4th inning after a single by JT Breslin who scored after an error on a ball put in play by Noel Franczyk.

Morelanders never trailed after scoring four runs in the fifth on an RBI double by Matt Wisterand a two-run error.
