Fort Washington Generals defeated Springfield 3-2 on Sunday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at two with Fort Washington Generals batting in the bottom of the eighth when Justin Horn tripled to right center field and then Matt Hebling hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the game winning run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Fort Washington Generals pitchers struck out nine, while Colin Ebenhardt sat down four.
Springfield took an early lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for Springfield.
Brian McPeak earned the win for Fort Washington Generals. He pitched one and two-thirds innings, allowing one run, one hit, and walking zero. Ebenhardt took the loss for Springfield. He threw eight innings, allowing three runs, six hits, striking out four, and walking one.
The Generals were down 1-0 when Matt Hebling reached pass on a error by the catcher. JT Breslin drilled a double down the left field line on a hit and run to put runners at 2nd and 3rd. Brian McPeak then ripped a single to left center field to give the Generals a 2-1 lead after 6 innings.
David Keller started the game for Fort Washington Generals. He threw seven and a third innings, surrendering one run, four hits, and striking out nine.
JT Breslin led Fort Washington Generals with two hits in four at bats.
