Generals 15 Horsham 3, 1-0 (forfeit)

Justin Horn leads Fort Washington Generals to 15-3 victory with 2 hits, 2 RBIs  and closing out the game with a scoreless inning on the mound. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

16 6 5 Horsham 21Horsham couldn’t get anything going so long as starter Tommy Reilly  and reliever Justin Horn were on the hill. Tommy Reilly pitched 5 strong innings to earn the win striking out 2 and limiting Horsham to 2 hits.  Horn closed the game with a 1-2-3 inning including a game ending strike out.

The Generals set the tone by plating 5 runs in their half of the first.  Justin Horne led off and was hit by a pitch, and the 3-4-5 batters drew 3 consecutive walks, which combined with steals, scored 2 runs until singles by Mike Reilly and Max Weinberg drove in the remaining 3 runs.  After started Tommy Reilly set down Horsham in their half of the first, Fort Washington added 2 more runs in the top of the second, and another 2 runs in the top of the third to take a commanding 9-0 lead.   The Generals put the game away with 6 runs in the top of the sixth, sending 12 batters to the plate.  RBI singles by Thomas Juelke, Matt Hebling, Jason Greene and Max Weinberg were followed by a long double by Justin Horn.

This was originally a double header, but the Horsham team forfeited the second game as they didn’t have enough players.  With these wins, the Generals improve to 3-0 in league play.

Generals 9 Black Sox 8

In a non-league game, the Generals out lasted the Black Sox to win 9-8, ultimately winning by stealing home on a passed ball in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Per Coach Bonitatibus “Great job  hanging in there today and finding a way to win. Good base running. Justin Horn with 2 hits and Jason O’Gara with 3 hits with a big double. Albert John getting a squeeze down.  Matt Hebling catching the whole game.  Lots of good things.”

FW 3 Warminster 0

Warminster outdone by Tom Reilly and Fort Washington Generals, 3-0   Tom Reilly went 2-3, helping Fort Washington Generals to a 3-0 victory over Warminster on Thursday. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third inning.

Fort Washington Generals’ Noel Franczyk kept Warminster off the scoreboard for all 7 innings he was on the bump. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on three hits while ringing up two.

Fort Washington Generals didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring one run in the first inning when it scored on an RBI double by Tom Reilly.  Fort Washington Generals matched its one-run third inning with one more in the sixth. In the third, Fort Washington Generals scored on a wild pitch, bringing home Max Weinberg.

Opening League Game 6/2

play ballThe opening league game will be Thursday June 2, at home, vs Warminster.  First pitch at 6pm.
With all the conflicts with playoffs for Upper Dublin HS, Springfield HS, Germantown Academy and Christopher Dock HS, this is the first league game for the team.  Warminster, in the mean time, has gotten off to a 3-0 start.

Also this week:

Saturday 11am non-league home vs the Black Sox and then at 1pm the Alumni Game
Sunday noon and ~ 230pm Double Header Away @ Horsham

 

 

Memorial Day / Schedule Changes

Always remember the true meaning of the Memorial Day holiday… to honor those who have served our country and made the tremendous sacrifices to ensure and protect our freedoms.

There are some schedule changes for this weekend and the upcoming weeks baseball games as well as the Upper Dublin High School Team is still competing in the District playoffs.

Saturday 5/28 Home vs Pottstown is Cancelled
Sunday 5/29 Away at Roslyn is Postponed but the team will practice 11am-1pm
Tuesday 5/31 Home vs Southampton is Postponed
Upper Dublin has a playoff game 5/31 Home vs Spring Ford..
If UD wins then — Thursday 6/2 is postponed..   If UD loses then game on v Warminster.

FW Generals 10 Valley Forge 0

Fort Washington Generals jumped out to an early lead on Valley Forge and captured a 10-0 victory on Tuesday.   The game was decided quickly as Fort Washington Generals exerted its will early with seven runs in the first three innings. An RBI single by Riley Brink during the second inning fueled Fort Washington Generals’ offense early.

16 5 22 27Ryan O’Gara racked up three RBIs on three hits for Fort Washington Generals. He tripled in the third inning and singled in the second and fifth innings.  Fort Washington Generals’ Brendan Petrilli kept Valley Forge off the scoreboard for all five innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up six.  Fort Washington Generals tacked on another six runs in the third. The inning looked promising, as Matt Gold singled to kick things off. That was followed up with a steal of home by Matt Gold.

FW Generals 7 Lansdale 4

Fort Washington Generals defeats Lansdale after late game bases loaded walk, 7-4  After seven lead changes in Sunday’s game, Fort Washington Generals finally pulled out a 7-4 win over Lansdale.   Fort Washington Generals finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fourth inning. A walk by Jason Greene scored Max Weinberg and gave Fort Washington Generals the lead for good.

Chris Kelly boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace Fort Washington Generals. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third and fifth innings.   Noel Franczyk got the win for Fort Washington Generals pitching four innings and Jason Greene pitched one shutout inning to get the save he struck out two, walked none and gave up no hits.

16 5 22 22The top of the second saw Lansdale take an early lead, 1-0. #12 kicked things off for Lansdale with a single. Then moved #12 from first to second. #11 doubled, plating #12.

Fort Washington Generals answered Lansdale’s top inning with two runs of its own in the second. Fort Washington Generals scored on a groundout by Jason Greene and an RBI single by Albert John.   Fort Washington Generals piled on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Mike Zicchinolfi singled, scoring John to start the inning. That was followed up by Riley Brink‘s single, bringing home Mike Zicchinolfi.
